We’re officially into 2019 and with it comes that amazing feeling of an entire fresh year ahead of you and a full 365 days to achieve anything you set your mind to!
We’re definitely feeling that in the CrowdControlHQ office this week and we hope you are too.
Before we all start to settle back into a normal routine, we wanted to capitalise on the excitement of the new year to make personal and professional resolutions to help us achieve our goals inside and outside of work.
In this blog I caught up with a couple of colleagues to discuss the resolutions they’re setting for 2019 and how they’ll be working on them throughout the year!
But before we get into the good stuff, you might be thinking, why are we so focused on development?
Develop to be the Best You!
Professional development is one of our 7 company values because we believe that in order to help our customers to succeed and drive CrowdControlHQ forward, every single person has to bring their best to the team!
That means committing to continuous professional development (CPD) and being curious and driven to keep learning about your field.
To kick things off we spoke to Alex who has recently joined our Sales team and is a great addition to the CrowdControlHQ crew! Alex talked us through the resolutions that he’s set for 2019 which are:
Professional Resolution: Read one book each week.
To develop a deeper understanding of how organisations can make best use of social media, as well as hone his sales skills, Alex is focusing on reading a book each week on a related topic. Reading more is a fantastic resolution to set because it’s an easy and accessible way to improve your knowledge on almost any subject – not to mention a great way to de-stress at the end of your day!
Personal Resolution: Improve fitness and overhaul diet.
On an everyday level Alex is keen to develop a consistent gym routine combined with an overhaul of his diet to ensure he’s in the best possible health to take on the year ahead and learn quickly! Who else has a sport or fitness related New Year’s resolution?
I thought it was only right to share my resolutions as one of them actually relates to blog-writing! For those of you who don’t know, I’m Naomi and I work in the Marketing team here at CrowdControlHQ and my New Year’s resolutions are:
Professional Resolution: Consistently improve my writing.
I’ve been writing for the CrowdControlHQ blog for coming up a year and in that time I’ve learnt so much! From devising a consistent approach to planning and creating content, to finding my own writing style. But as with anything there’s always ways to improve and this year I want to make more time for learning from the other fantastic blogs out there to ensure we’re continuously providing more value for our readers!
Personal Resolution: Make more time for drawing and painting.
In my spare time I love crafting and painting but sometimes life gets in the way and I go weeks without picking up a paint brush. So this year I really want to make it a priority to sit down at some point each week and sketch or paint something!
We also sat down with Cam, our Interim Head of Sales to learn more about what goals he’s set himself for the year including:
Professional Resolution: Develop and grow my team.
Cam’s professional resolution for 2019 is all about helping his team reach their full potential and progress into the roles that they want. To do that Cam will be dedicating time and resources to providing further training and support to each member of his team to help them develop in the areas they want to in order to achieve their ambitions.
Personal Resolution: focus on work-life balance.
On a personal level, Sales can be a fast-paced environment and developing the right work-life balance is super important. As Cam referenced, we’ve worked with Birmingham Mind to understand how to approach managing stress and maintain strong mental health. These tools and tactics are a great reminder that we all need time to focus on ourselves this year!
We’ll be checking back in with these guys in July to see how the first half of the year has gone and what progress they’ve made against their resolutions! Have you made any resolutions this year? If so, we’d love to hear them so please get in touch @CrowdControlHQ or drop us an email to say hi to firstname.lastname@example.org!
